Book Reviews!!!

Verity- Collin Hoover

Reading Verity this past summer, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had heard about Verity through TikTok, Pinterest etc, but was unsure on what it was about. As I sat down and started reading the book, I was intrigued, but not in love with the story. Reading through the main characters perspective (Lowen). Verity started to become interesting. Towards the middle of the book the story became more intense. I not only couldn’t put the book down, but I needed to know what happened next. The thrilling scare the book possessed was amazing, and will go down as one of my favorite books of all time!

People You Meet On Vacation- Emily Henry

I read People We Meet On Vacation two years ago when I was out of the country. I had heard excellent things about the book and was very excited to read it. I took the book everywhere I went because I just couldn’t help but want to know what’s going to happen. As I read the book, I will say I knew a romance plot was coming, but the wait was completely dragged. As a person who loves romance novels, I was curious to know how the slow burn of the two main characters would progress throughout the book. But, as I continued reading the slow burn, it was just not enough and too boring. Something that should’ve happened 100 pages ago didn’t happen until almost the end of the book. And when it finally happened, it wasn’t something that was interesting nor relatable. I was very disappointed with this book, but I would still like to read more of Emily Henry‘s work so I can gain a sense of her writing style.

The Girl On The Train– Paula Hawkins

The Girl On The Train was a book I had always noticed since my mom kept it in a bookshelf in her office. I was never intrigued to know what the book was about until one day I went to her office and  picked it up. I read the excerpt on the back of the book, and I finally felt old enough to want to read the story. The book started off very different from all of the other books I have read. While I’m not a mystery reader, I do love a book with a plot twist. As I read Girl On The Train, I realized I couldn’t put it down. I ended up reading the book in less than 48 hours. This book had one of the biggest plot twists I have ever read, and to this day, this is still one of my absolute favorite books. The main character was relatable and the plotline was very different. Sort of like a Gone Girl type of story. Definitely a book I would read over and over again. As well as a book that I would recommend to everyone who likes to be kept on the edge of their seats.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

This is a book that I tell every person I know to read. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was a story my high school librarian recommended to me. I had always heard about the book, but never thought about reading due to the name. (Which I know is extremely sad). While the name of the book seems like something from The Selection series, it sincerely has nothing to do with the title….Kinda. Evelyn is a woman who has been married seven different times. While she knows what she wants in life, she also knows that in the time she lives in, you can’t always get what you want. This book is extraordinary and beautiful and something that I personally relate to myself. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a great book that I recommend to everyone. If you can get your hands on this book, I promise you, you will never regret it

They Both Die At The End-

They Both Die At The End.. What an amusing and interesting title. This Sci-Fi, Romance novel is a perfect read. It reminds me of Divergent and Hunger Games, but less dramatic in a sense. I read TBDATE my sophomore year of high school. Because the pandemic was around at this time, I felt as though the book was relatable. We see the viewpoints of different characters and get to see what love looks like at a young age. This book was beautiful and sad. If you like to cry then, this book would be a great read for you!
